On November 25th, the Lope de Vega International School developed several initiatives to raise awareness in the International Day of the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The Dance School
The most noteworthy proposal of the day was that of the Lope de Vega Dance School since, in collaboration with the Red Cross of Benidorm, performed the following choreography and video.
Daniela Arnoldo, Director of the Dance School, pointed out that the idea behind the video is that “everyone, even in a small setting like a school, can do their part to raise awareness in their immediate surroundings.” She also emphasized that “what was most interesting was the collaborative work between adults (beginner and elementary classes) and children because we understand that our children are the agents of change we want to see in the future.”
The piece, which has been in development for a whole month, stems from the relationship that mothers from our school have with the Red Cross as volunteers. These mothers and their daughters, in turn, receive dance classes at the Lope de Vega school. The choreography is inspired by the protest song playing: "Sin Miedo" by Vivir Quintana.
Murals and posters
In addition, the primary school students created various murals and posters using different artistic techniques, which they displayed around the school. This served the dual purpose of raising awareness within the class and the rest of the school, while also exploring different artistic techniques.
