“Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). Jesus asks us to celebrate his great love, and not only to celebrate it, but to truly live it, more than just a memory. Jesus Christ comes in every Eucharist, continues walking beside us, and nourishes us with his body and blood. To receive Jesus in the Eucharist, we prepare ourselves, and the first time we receive him, we experience great joy. We not only receive Jesus, we also adore him, we pray to him, and we walk in procession with him to acknowledge that he walks beside us every day. This is the true meaning of the solemn Corpus Christi procession. This year, for the first time in the history of the Lope de Vega International School, we celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. At 09:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, the procession with the Blessed Sacrament began from the "Garden of Dreams." After a brief prayer with all the children who had made their First Communion this year and their classmates, we continued the procession with the Blessed Sacrament. Making our way through the school, we arrived at the "Courtyard of the Virgin." There, we all prayed with great devotion to the Lord and received his blessing.
After this beautiful procession, we began the celebration of Holy Mass. In an atmosphere of prayer and deep connection, all the children and their families celebrated this great mystery of God's love, the Eucharist. Helped by the songs of our school choir, the readings and prayers of the children, and the words of our chaplain, Father Javier, we felt closer to Jesus Christ. At the conclusion of Holy Mass, the priest surprised us with wonderful news: His Holiness Pope Francis had granted us his Apostolic Blessing, recorded on a parchment that will be displayed throughout the school. After receiving a memento of this memorable day, we enjoyed this beautiful celebration that brought us all closer to Christ Jesus.
