This morning, the reception and exhibition of the legacy left by the illustrious academic and intellectual Pere Maria Orts i Bosch to the city where he was born was held in the Plenary Hall of the Benidorm City Council.
The event, which was attended by representatives of the main cultural and educational institutions of Benidorm, also included as guests the Head of the Lope de Vega International School, Vicente Fuster Pérez, and the Academic Director, Áurea González, who wanted to show the respect that the School has for the figure of Pere María Orts, one of the personalities that Benidorm has given to the world and whose work has served to clarify some of the most uncertain episodes of its past, such as the arrival of the image of the Virgin of Suffrage documented in 1740.
Josefina Orts, sister of the late Pere Maria, expressed the affection he felt for Benidorm and warmly greeted Vicente Fuster, as his father and Founder of the School, Juan Fuster, shared a friendship with Pere Maria.
The legacy includes, among other things, six priceless tapestries now displayed in the City Hall's Plenary Hall. He has also bequeathed to the city the medals and decorations he received throughout his life in recognition of his work.
