The team from Colegio Virgen del Pasico in Murcia emerged victorious in the second edition of the Lope de Vega Academic Debate Tournament. It was a closely contested final against the team from Colegio San Agustín in Alicante. The winners argued in favor of the metaverse and new immersive digital worlds, which was the topic of debate in this edition.
In addition, there were rIndividual awards for the best speakers, which were for the students: Fiona Gjergji, from Lope de Vega International School and Alejandro Marín.
The tournament took place On April 8th and 9th. Participants included, in addition to the Murcian school and the Augustinians. La Encarnación School in Villena, Padre Dehon School in Novelda, Peñafort School in San Vicente del Raspeig, and Lope de Vega International School itself.
The debates began on Friday and continued throughout Saturday, culminating in the final, which took place before a large audience in the Lope de Vega auditorium. The closing ceremony was attended by the Councilor for Culture and Youth of Benidorm, Jaime Jesús Pérez Esteban, and a member of the AEFA Board of Directors, Vicente Martínez.
The jury members and judges of the debates highlighted the high level shown by the students and their mastery of the topic. They also took into consideration the limited experience of some of the teams, for whom this was their first tournament.
The Lope de Vega International School has been developing public speaking and debate for years, becoming a national benchmark in this discipline.
