Lope de Vega reaches the semi-finals of the Bank of Spain's financial knowledge competition

  • The team made up of 5 Economics students from the 2nd year of Baccalaureate has reached the semi-finals of the national tournament.
  • In its second year as a participant, it has managed to place among the top 4 schools out of a total of 433 across Spain

The team from Lope de Vega International School has reached the semi-finals of the national Financial Knowledge competition, organized by the Bank of Spain together with the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The team made up of Morgana Kidgell, Hugo Ardura, Maria Ibáñez, Alba Pérez and Susana Dong, who represented the school in this edition, prepared their participation in the competition thoroughly, supported by their Economics teacher, Ana Todolí.

Almost unexpectedly, and starting initially with 433 teams, the students progressed through the rounds until reaching the semi-final, where finally, after a very close and exciting match, they were defeated by the Santísimo Cristo de Plasencia School, with more than 10 years of experience in this competition.

Lope de Vega has thus become the only CICAE school to reach this round, as well as the only representative from the Valencian Community. The students have given this experience a very positive review, finding it enriching both academically and personally.

As this edition was online, each team was supervised by a representative of the Bank of Spain, who, in the case of Lope de Vega, was Raquel Crespo, who highlighted “the solidity of the financial concepts that these students have acquired and the good work done by Lope de Vega to bring Economics closer to students of the different stages.”

This is the 2nd edition in which the School participates, which wants to continue to promote financial culture, which is already being introduced in the later years of Primary School.
