The Lope de Vega is organizing the III Spanish National Beach Tennis Championship which will take place from June 23 to 25 in Benidorm.
The collaboration between the Benidorm City Council, the Lope de Vega International School and the Spanish Tennis Federation will continue for three more editions
From June 23 to 25, more than 130 athletes from 12 federated teams will compete in the third edition of the tournament. The best beach tennis players in Spain will participate on June 23, 24, and 25 in the III Spanish National Championship by Autonomous Communities. Twelve registered teams are participating
The sporting event features 12 registered teams, representing the Autonomous Communities where this sport is practiced, as well as Ceuta and Melilla, totaling more than 130 athletes. The courts located in the sports area of Poniente Beach in Benidorm will host the tournament matches. main court of the Lope de Vega International School The semifinals and final will be played. The tournament has already secured commitments for future editions, adding the facilities of the school and the courts on Poniente beach.
Benidorm, a pioneer in beach tennis
From the Lope de Vega school, its headmaster, Vicente Fuster, recalled the ideals of its founder, Juan Fuster Zaragoza, and its commitment to sports. He also emphasized that "the Benidorm school is a pioneer in the practice of beach tennis."
For his part, Carles Vicent, Sports Coordinator for the Spanish Tennis Federation and head of Beach Tennis in Spain, highlighted “the importance of this tournament and the facilities offered by Benidorm.” He also emphasized “the collaboration of the Benidorm City Council and the organization by the Lope de Vega school.”
On the other hand, the championship director and manager of Costa Tennis, Alfonso Bacaicoa, highlighted “the synergy between the Benidorm City Council, the Spanish Tennis Federation and the Lope de Vega that make this III Spanish Beach Tennis Championship possible.”
This new state beach tennis competition reflects the enormous boom this new sport is experiencing in our country. This year, the number of participants in the Championship has doubled: more than one hundred open pairs, plus competitors in the junior (Under 18 and Under 14) and veteran (+35 and +45) categories.
