A delegation from the Lope de Vega International School, comprised of its Director, Áurea González; Deputy Director, María Fuster; and teacher and TBL (Thinking Based Learning) expert, Silvia Berenguer, traveled to Hong Kong to participate as speakers at the third “Brain and Mind International Expo,” a high-level educational congress held this past weekend and attended by the most prestigious and advanced schools in China. Lope de Vega was the only school from Europe invited to the event.
The presentation given by Áurea González and Silvia Berenguer was one of the most anticipated at the conference and was titled “Thinking Changing Makers: When thinking skills reshape learning communities – real practices from an international school in Europe.” In it, they discussed current educational paradigms based on teaching thinking skills and empowering students, illustrating them with examples of real educational experiences that have taken place at the Lope de Vega International School.
During their stay, the three teachers also visited the Creative Primary School in Kowloon, Hong Kong, where they were welcomed by its Principal, Ms. Clio Chen, the management team, teachers, and the “Brain and Mind Smarties Ambassadors” representing the students. There, they learned about the school's educational project, which places great importance on the formal teaching of thinking strategies and shares several similarities with the Lope de Vega educational project, confirming that education in Asia has great potential and is open to relationships with the Western world.
With this educational congress held in Hong Kong, the Lope de Vega closes a year in which it has participated as a center of reference in several educational meetings of international relevance, such as the ICOT (World Congress of Thought), held in May in Miami (USA).
