This Friday, March 8th, the Founders' Day of the Lope de Vega International School was celebrated, a day in which students and teachers remembered the beginnings of the Educational Institution in 1960 and its founders, Mr. Juan Fuster Zaragoza and Mrs. Carmen Pérez González.
The day, which began with Mass, continued with the presentation of the most outstanding projects being developed in Primary and Secondary schools. One of the most awarded was the Mar-Net project, carried out by 6th grade Primary and 1st year Secondary students, whose objective is to raise awareness about the need to care for the oceans and reduce plastic pollution, very much in line with UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goal 14. Following this, the 1st year Baccalaureate students shared important news with their classmates: the Youth Emotional Tourism project, which they are carrying out in conjunction with nine other schools in Benidorm and the Costa Blanca, has reached the Senate, where a motion to introduce the study of healthy leisure activities into the school curriculum has been approved.
As in previous years, awards were presented to the students: those for the 20th edition of the "Juan Fuster Zaragoza" Short Story Competition, in which students from all grade levels participated, and the 2nd "Carmen Pérez González" Mathematical Photography Competition, which showcased the creativity of its winners. Sports trophies for padel and table tennis were also awarded.
In the afternoon, the 5th grade students staged the Discovery of the Virgin of Suffrage, Patron Saint of Benidorm, a play by “La Barqueta” that is performed every year, and danced the “Peuet”, a traditional dance of Benidorm.
