The Lope de Vega team finishes in third place in the Nebrija University Debate League

The Debate Team of the Lope de Vega International School, which this weekend participated in the Versus pre-university Debate League, of the University of Nebrija, has finished in 3rd position out of more than twenty teams from all over Spain after a magnificent performance.

The four high school students have debated against teams with extensive experience in this tournament, this being their second participation.

In this edition, the question to be debated has been whether the Assembly system is a useful tool to revitalize democracy.

Lope de Vega finished third after being eliminated in the semi-final by the eventual league winner, IES El Burgo de Las Rozas, but they managed to eliminate the reigning champion, Colegio Virgen de Europa, in the semi-final.

Public speaking is one of the strengths of the education at the Lope de Vega International School, which has a Debate club made up of more than 80 Secondary and High School students who have already participated in several national tournaments. Participants gain experience in key topics within the world of debate: public speaking, language mastery, ability to react to unexpected arguments, and the need to negotiate among teammates to unify criteria and strategy.
