This week, the families of the 1th grade students hosted the Dutch exchange students from Oss. It was a few days of camaraderie, fun, and teamwork, as at the end of their stay, the students presented their projects on "The Carbon Footprint" in groups. Speaking in English and using presentations, each group explained in the auditorium why the greenhouse effect occurs and how we can reduce its impact in our daily lives. The challenge they set for themselves was precisely that: to change our habits regarding transportation, food, and electricity consumption and see what improvements can be made for the environment.
After this visit, the students will stay in touch with their classmates until they meet again, when our students travel to the Netherlands to conclude the project and enjoy their trip. That is precisely the purpose of these exchanges: to forge new and lasting friendships, to better understand other cultures, and to become comfortable communicating in different languages.
