- Amanda Lorenzo has won first prize with her book “History of a Cork”
- Amanda's story was chosen from among more than 700 participants from the province.
Amanda Lorenzo, a 4th year ESO student at the Lope de Vega International School, has won first prize in the 15th edition of the Youth Short Story Competition organized annually by the Association of Booksellers and Stationery Stores of the province of Alicante.
To present the prize, which consisted of a bicycle, the President of the Association, Jose Antonio López Vizcaíno, visited the school. In his speech, he acknowledged the student's literary talent, the work done by her Language teacher, Elena López, to whom he also presented a gift, and the participation of the Lope de Vega International School, which donated a large box of books to the school library.
Amanda's story, titled "The Story of a Bottle Cap," tells the life of a plastic bottle cap from its manufacture to ending up where it shouldn't. It's a story that has captivated the jury of 10 members, all connected to the world of books.
Today's event, attended by Amanda's classmates, complemented the diploma ceremony that took place at the ADDA Auditorium in Alicante on October 4th.
More than 80 schools in the province participated in this edition, submitting around 700 short stories. From these, the winner and several finalists were chosen, and their stories have been compiled into a book. Two of the selected stories are by other students from Lope de Vega.
