Silvia Berenguer, Director of Educational Programs at NCTT Spain, gives a talk at the M. Peleteiro School in Santiago de Compostela
Silvia Berenguer, Director of NCTT Special Programs and Head of the English Department, has been at the M. Peleteiro School in Santiago de Compostela this week to give a talk on Thinking-Based Learning, the educational methodology of which our School is a pioneer in Spain.
During the conference, Berenguer explained to teachers and parents the foundations of Thinking Based Learning (TBL), or how to teach critical and creative thinking. Through Visual Thinking, he showed them that it is possible to improve student education by fostering collaboration, interaction, and creativity, which helps them achieve greater autonomy and problem-solving skills, and equips them to successfully face the challenges and difficulties they will encounter throughout their lives. All of this was illustrated with classroom experiences from our teachers and students.
More and more schools are interested in learning about the TBL learning methodology, developed by Dr. Robert Swartz and already successfully implemented at all educational levels at Lope de Vega. Our school has also begun training teachers from across Spain as a site for NCTT “Special Programs”.
