NEXT OPEN DAY MARCH 25TH, OPEN ENROLLMENT

Valencian Pilota at Lope de Vega International School

A day of tradition and collaborative learning

In our ongoing effort to bring the culture and traditions of our land closer to our students, we have had the honor of receiving a visit from two outstanding professional pilotaris to share with the students the history, tradition and feeling behind this discipline so typical of our Community.

Pere Roc and Pere, champion pilotaris, were the masters in helping our students connect with the sporting roots of our community.

The day began with a fascinating talk where the players shared their personal experiences in the world of Valencian pilota. The students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the history, variations, and techniques of this traditional sport, which is a fundamental part of Valencian cultural heritage.

During the presentation, the athletes explained the different variations of the game, from "raspall" to "escala i corda," sparking great interest among the students. They also shared anecdotes from their professional careers and emphasized the importance of keeping Valencian sporting traditions alive in new generations.

The visit also included a practical demonstration of Valencian pilota in our facilities where our “adventurers” were able to closely observe the techniques and skills needed to practice this sport.

But the most noteworthy aspect of this day was undoubtedly the collaborative activity that took place among the students of Training cycles and the primary school students of our center taking the sport of Valencian pilota as a reference.

Following our collaborative learning methodology, Vocational Training students became teachers for a day, teaching Primary school students the art of making pilota gloves as part of the "Valencian Pilota" subject that the students study in the 2nd year of the degree. En Lope de Vega International School We are committed to connected and collaborative learning. That is why, whenever learning conditions allow, we promote this type of learning across different stages..

This activity allowed older students to develop leadership and communication skills, as well as fostering a dynamic and participatory learning environment.

During the workshop, students learned about the materials traditionally used in glove making, construction techniques, and the importance of proper protection for this sport. Each student had the opportunity to actively participate in the creation process, gaining practical knowledge and an appreciation for this traditional sport.

This initiative perfectly embodies our commitment to a holistic education that extends beyond the classroom. By combining the preservation of cultural traditions with innovative educational methodologies, we create meaningful and enriching learning experiences for our students, fostering a rich educational environment.
