Student Marta Vinaches tells us about her experience on the volleyball team. In 5th and 6th grade, the school offers its students the opportunity to participate in free sports activities: basketball, handball, multi-sports, and volleyball.
Of all of them, I decided to sign up for volleyball, and that's how it all started. My sister played volleyball at school when I was little. Sometimes I would go to watch her matches, but the sport had never appealed to me.
In sixth grade, our Physical Education teacher brought the registration forms for the aforementioned sports activities to class. My friends and I chose volleyball.
When I started, I remember absolutely hating serving. I had no strength at all. But everything changed when we started playing matches. The very first one was spectacular; we lost, but we had a great time. We played three sets, and it was very exciting.
We're a very close-knit group right now. We see volleyball as a game we strive to improve every day. We love it. We really enjoy training, and sometimes when someone on the team (myself included) gets discouraged, the rest of us try to cheer them up. Thanks to the group we've formed, we're also learning to support each other and to be a strong, united team.
We are very happy and will continue playing as long as we can. We can say that volleyball is our passion.
