The “LdV Positive Disrupters” presented at the Valencia Conference Centre on Friday, February 24, within the Eduketing educational congress, the progress of their project “For a Tourism of Young Emotions”, which begins its second phase, in which they have set themselves a clear objective: to collect signatures to take their proposal of a healthy and wholesome young leisure to the regional and national institutions.
Following the presentation by Áurea González, Director of the Lope de Vega International School, the initiative's pioneering center, the nine student representatives from the ten participating schools each spoke. The group, initially composed of seven schools, has grown to include three more, bringing the total to ten schools and institutes in the provinces of Alicante and Valencia. These include, in addition to the Lope de Vega International School in Benidorm, the Mediterrània, Almadrava, Beatriu Fajardo, and Bernat de Sarrià Secondary Schools in Benidorm; the San Agustín School in Alicante; La Devesa School in Elche; the Historiador Chabás Secondary School in Denia; the Andreu Sempere Secondary School in Alcoy; and the Los Naranjos International School in Gandía.
Their message, which resonated deeply with an audience of nearly a thousand teachers from across Spain, advocates for a shift in perceptions towards young people and how they spend their leisure time. This is embodied in a proposal that includes several "emotional routes" created by secondary and high school students, which can be downloaded from the Geo Aumentaty app. Furthermore, the students are much more ambitious and want to take their petition to the Valencian Parliament and the Spanish Senate so that, supported by 10.000 signatures on the Change.org platform, they can change the curriculum to include the study of adolescent leisure activities in the classroom.
Eduketing was the first forum where the students presented their project when it was in its first phase, and they wanted to return there to explain how projects driven by young people from various centers and locations are sustainable over time and can have such an important impact as this one is having.
The Emotional Tourism Project has many institutional supporters, such as the City Councils of Benidorm, Denia and Gandía, the Alicante Provincial Council, the IVAJ, tourism associations such as HOSBEC, Visit Benidorm or Cobreca and companies from various sectors.
