December 19th - This morning at 13 p.m., the Lope de Vega International School held a ceremony to present all the funds raised during the Christmas charity drives. This year, over €3000 was raised and more than 1000 kilos of food were collected, a record made possible by the tremendous involvement of the students, their families, and the entire school community.
All the food has been delivered to Cáritas Benidorm, which will distribute it among the city's neediest families. Rosa Prieto, Coordinator for the Marina Baixa region, was present representing this NGO. The funds raised have been divided between ACOMAR Alicante (Association of Marginalized People) and the San José Obrero Diocesan Orphanage in Orihuela. Speaking on behalf of the Orihuela orphanage, Reverend Francisco Javier Rodríguez expressed his gratitude for the donations and stated that part of the money will be used to carry out improvement works at the children's center.
The event, attended by students from the school, was also attended by Cristina Escoda, Councilor for Social Welfare, and Rubén Martínez, Councilor for Education, representing the Benidorm City Council. Councilor Martínez emphasized the importance of carrying out charitable campaigns in schools as part of the values education children should receive. Vicente Fuster, Headmaster of the Lope de Vega International School, congratulated everyone on their efforts over the past few days and encouraged the students to continue working on charitable causes throughout the rest of the year.
