Currently, the communities that coexist at Lope de Vega International School are very diverse. At our school, we increasingly experience our own international reality. It's almost becoming a habit, and in recent months, several communities from very different backgrounds and with very different customs have been strengthening ties, motivated by what truly unites us: the desire to get to know each other. So, last Friday we celebrated the 3rd Annual Meeting with the Russian and Norwegian Communities. We all gathered in the center of Benidorm to enjoy a fabulous dinner featuring a variety of traditional dishes. The highlight of the evening was the performance by first-year high school students Vilde Bellika, who sang "Mamma Mia," Sergio Kuts, who recited a beautiful Russian poem and performed artistic gymnastics exercises, and Ms. Julia Andrianova, who also warmed up her vocal cords with Russian songs. In addition, both the Russian and Norwegian communities sang their respective national anthems with great emotion. Finally, all together, and with great enthusiasm and joy, we ended the celebration singing "Viva España" by our beloved Manolo Escobar.
This is not the first time we have enjoyed moments like these, as we had the opportunity to organize a first experiential meeting at the "La Marina" Shopping Centre to see the film "The Impossible". The students who attended were: Mr. Yury Belan and Mrs. Natalia Belan, Mrs. Vitoria Baskina, Mrs. Julia Andrianova, Mrs. Vera Rudakova, Mrs. Marina Kuts, and the boys Daniil Baskin, Alexander Voronov, and Yaroslav Belan, along with their Spanish teacher, Arlene Jeanette Cobo. It was a moving and very human film that touched all of our hearts.
We all hope to continue having more opportunities to share and continue experiencing the fact that, regardless of our traditions and origins, deep down, we are more alike than we think.
