At Lope de Vega International School, we understand that our responsibility to the environment goes beyond classroom education.

As an educational institution, we have made a comprehensive commitment to sustainability that is reflected in our operations and corporate decisions. We have developed a environmental policy A strong commitment that encompasses all aspects of our daily operations, from resource management to strategic decision-making. This commitment is translated into concrete actions that demonstrate our dedication to a sustainable future.

Carbon Footprint Distinction Recognition

Lope de Vega has obtained the Carbon Footprint Registry distinction, compensation and carbon dioxide absorption projects from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. Obtaining the carbon footprint certificate represents a significant environmental commitment for our center. This recognition involves the systematic measurement of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the center's activities, the implementation of an emissions reduction plan with specific and measurable objectives, the development of strategies to optimize energy consumption, and raising awareness throughout the entire educational community about the importance of reducing environmental impact.

Installation of Photovoltaic Panels

Our school has been in operation since the year with more of photovoltaic panels installed throughout the center that allow a reduction of CO2 emissions. This project has allowed us to significantly reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, thus contributing to environmental protection and making us a more sustainable school. After monitoring the energy savings achieved with this improvement, we have seen that at times the school is able to operate solely on solar energy, which has a direct impact on environmental protection.

Aerothermal heating in swimming pool

Pool heating is another project Lope de Vega has implemented as part of our commitment to the environment. Aerothermal heating for pools is a highly efficient system that achieves savings of up to 60% compared to traditional systems. Furthermore, it is a renewable energy source, as it does not emit CO2 into the atmosphere and is not dependent on the international energy market like natural gas and other fossil fuels. Lope De Vega International School implemented this system in 2003, and since then, the school has generated significant savings, reaching 30% last year.

Reduction in electricity use

We have managed to reduce electricity consumption by 27% through November, compared to the same period last year. This is thanks to adjustments made to the solar panels throughout 2024, which have allowed us to increase self-consumption through photovoltaic panels.

Reduction in paper use

At Lope de Vega International School, we have implemented a comprehensive policy for the responsible use of paper, exclusively using recycled paper in all our facilities and academic activities. This initiative is part of our commitment to sustainability and environmental education. This school year, we have opted to digitize our catalog of extracurricular activities, thus raising awareness among our students and families about paper consumption.Paper consumption has decreased by 25% in the last year.

Collaboration with Sustainable Suppliers

Lope de Vega's commitment to sustainability extends beyond the actions undertaken by the school itself. It is essential for us that the partner companies that help us manage our daily operations are also environmentally responsible organizations. In this regard, we highlight our collaboration with a pioneering transportation company in Spain that uses sustainable vehicles. Their fleet uses Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a cleaner alternative fuel, and these vehicles are equipped with Euro V and Euro VI technology, which significantly reduces pollutant emissions and the carbon footprint during our students' daily commutes.
