The Lope de Vega participates in and sponsors the charity race for the benefit of Aspanion “En primera línea”, held on Sunday 24th September. This is an initiative of the Benidorm Local Police in collaboration with the Town Hall and the Athletics Club of Benidorm. The aim of the event was to raise funds for childhood cancer programmes.
More than 1,250 participants
More than 1,250 people took part in the 1st “En primera línea” solidarity race in favour of Aspanion. Among them, students of all ages from the Lope de Vega school. As well as teachers and families from the public school who ran for the children affected by childhood cancer. From short distances such as 50 metres for babies and children up to 5 years old, to 10 kilometres for adults. There was also a 5 km walk to ensure that no one was left out.
Raising awareness of childhood cancer
The Lope de Vega has been raising awareness of childhood cancer in the community for years. As a result, he participates in various events, fundraisers and sponsorships such as this race. In the first edition of “En primera línea”, more than 22,000 euros were raised for Aspanion’s action, psychological, social and economic support programmes.
After the races, the vice-president of Aspanion Comunidad Valenciana, Alejandro López, greeted the athletes and thanked them for their social and economic support to his organisation. His words were followed by the reading of a manifesto to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Thanks to the values of solidarity, self-improvement, commitment and mutual support, a day was enjoyed that exceeded all expectations of success in its first edition.
