Lopatkina, a life dedicated to dance

Ulyana-Lopatkina

Profile of one of the best dancers in the history of dance.

What some people might consider mere entertainment, for others is their entire life. Throughout the history of dance, there have been great male and female dancers whose names have left an indelible mark on the history of ballet.

This report will be dedicated to one of the best ballerinas in the world today. It's about the elegant Ukrainian Uliana Lopatkina, who, at 175 centimeters tall, has become a principal dancer with the Mariinsky Theatre. Watching her dance is a delight and a superior aesthetic experience. Using her body as her instrument—a body that meets all the requirements for the perfect ballerina's physique: a small head, a long neck, and seemingly endless arms and legs—she manages to create the lines of classical ballet.

Lopatkina fills the entire stage with her mere presence, and is characterized by her extraordinary musicality and exquisite mastery of tempo in her movements. She is a true dancer, maintaining the essential connection between body and soul.

At the age of nine, she began her training at the Vaganova Academy of Ballet in Russia, one of the world's most famous and influential schools of classical ballet. The Vaganova Academy is the affiliated school of the Mariinsky Ballet, and many of its students go on to dance with some of the world's finest companies, including the Bolshoi Theatre, the Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and the Mikhailovsky Theatre.

Uliana has always been loyal to the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and is still there today. One of her most successful roles, among others, is that of a double. role of Odette-Odille, White Swan and Black Swan, of Swan LakeShe managed to portray them in a fascinating way, giving the impression that her arms were real wings. Her role as the swan is already being compared to that of the great myths.

She also has numerous other characters in her repertoire, such as Nikia. in La Bayadère or as a soloist in PaquitaHe has carried them all out with his particular subtlety, and has won several awards such as 'The Golden Mask'Y'The Baltika Prize'.

  1. As a dancer, I believe I've been inspired by great ballerinas throughout the history of classical ballet. But seeing Ulyana Lopatkina on stage, I was completely blown away… I'd never seen an artist like her.
She truly is unique and incomparable. She portrays each character as if she were living it, with perfect technique and a wonderful talent that inspires me professionally and spiritually with every movement… She is truly my role model.
I love watching her dance, I would say float on the stage… like an ethereal, sublime fairy.
