Lope de Vega International School is a dynamic school in many ways, including its facilities. Year after year, since the school opened in 1956, the facilities have been transformed to meet the needs of its students and adapt to changing times and their requirements.
As expected, improvements have also been made for the 2023-24 school year. These range from the renovation of the paddle tennis courts and school cafeterias to the creation of two secondary school classrooms, as well as improvements to the playgrounds with new shaded areas and the installation of air conditioning in the sports hall. In addition, a complete photovoltaic panel system has been installed to promote the school's sustainability.
Renovation of the padel courts
Padel is one of the sports practiced at Lope de Vega International School. It is offered as an extracurricular activity in Physical Education classes and as a competitive sport within the LDV Sports Club. Classes are taught by Costa Tennis , an academy based at the school. The supervision, maintenance, and renovation of our sports facilities are essential to guaranteeing their quality.
Two new classrooms in secondary school
For the 2023-24 academic year, two new secondary school classrooms have been opened . The building has been extended to accommodate them, providing our students with more space.
The new classrooms are very bright thanks to the large windows on both sides. They are also equipped with all the necessary technology and brand-new furniture.
Installation of photovoltaic panels, a sustainable school
With the aim of becoming an increasingly sustainable school, new photovoltaic panels have been installed to provide energy to the entire center. This significantly reduces its carbon footprint due to CO2 savings.
After monitoring the energy savings resulting from this improvement, it has been observed that at times the school is able to sustain itself solely with solar energy.
The installation of photovoltaic panels complements the aerothermal system implemented last year for the new pool heating . Aerothermal systems for pools are highly efficient, achieving savings of up to 60% compared to traditional systems. Furthermore, it is a renewable energy source, as it does not emit CO2 into the atmosphere and is not dependent on the international energy market like natural gas and other fossil fuels.
Renovation of the dining rooms
Lope de Vega school has two cafeterias that were recently renovated. However, further improvements have been made this year to both the facilities and the service . The menus, which are designed by expert nutritionists, can be viewed on our website.
New shaded areas and cooling systems
Because last year we experienced some of the highest temperatures ever recorded in the area, improvements have been implemented for this new school year.
On one hand, awnings have been installed to provide shade in the Infant and Primary school playgrounds (mini-tennis area). In addition, artificial turf has been installed , allowing children to play on the ground thanks to its fire-retardant fibers that dissipate heat.
On the other hand, fans have been installed throughout the pavilion to cool it both when it is used for sports and when it is used for school events.
